Los Angeles’ police shootings
Los Angeles police department reported an increase of 10% officer-involved shootings and 22% increase in significant uses of force compared to 2023, as compared with last year.
Black people were overrepresented among fatal and non-fatal shooting incidents relative to their share of population, as evident by both Use of Force data and hospital statistics.
Video shows that while walking alone in South Los Angeles, a woman was shot with what is referred to as “less lethal” ammunition by officers responding to reports about an abusive partner using firearms against their girlfriend and possibly being suicidal.
