When arriving at the drop-off bay noted on your booking confirmation and hand over your keys to an attendant. Your car will then be stored safely within or nearby the airport until your return trip.
Security Screening
Air travel is an intricate undertaking and airports have the responsibility of assuring passenger security. Passenger screening must abide by strict government regulations; selection for screening should not depend on gender, religion, ethnicity or employment status.
Brisbane Airport requires that all passengers travelling domestic or international must undergo security screening when entering secure zones, including passengers themselves as well as those accompanying them to boarding gates, aircrew, and airport staff.
ISS are providing an industry-leading passenger and baggage screening experience at BNE. By improving processes and technology to create an enhanced customer journey while increasing safety, security, and compliance simultaneously.
Upgrades include new x-ray equipment that allows for quicker and more accurate scanning of passengers’ bags and luggage, complying with government screening requirements while enabling passengers to keep items in their carry-on bags. In addition, construction of a direct entrance from Skywalk into Domestic Terminal for passengers with only carry-on baggage has also been undertaken as part of this project.
Passport Control
After you’ve checked in and received your boarding pass, proceed to an Australian Customs and Border Protection checkpoint. Present your passport to a Border Control officer; however if you possess an ePassport instead of a physical passport you can use an automated Smart Gate to bypass this step.
Next, you may be required to walk through a body scanner. These machines detect prohibited items worn or carried on your person by using non-ionising millimetre waves.
Before entering the scanning area, remove all hats, facemasks, sunglasses and bulky clothing including hats.
As part of its Future BNE transformation program, Brisbane Airport is currently undertaking extensive renovations to its international terminal. This major overhaul marks its largest revamp since opening 29 years ago and features improved immigration and security procedures; relocation of passport control from level four to level two; upgraded baggage systems; and an increase in duty-free retail space by double. Work will be staged to minimize disruptions until completion by 2027.
